A special full moon is happening on January 31st, and it’s being called a “Super Blue Blood Moon, for the first time in 150 years!

It’s “super” because it’s the third in a series of “supermoons” – that’s when the Moon is closer to Earth in its orbit and is brighter than usual.
It’s “blue” because it’s the second full moon of the month which is known as a “blue moon.”
It’s “blood” because it’s a total lunar eclipse, and will take on a reddish tint, known as a blood moon.

Full moons are all about endings, letting go, and the purpose of eclipses is generally understood to bring about a significant change that propels people forward into the next phase of their lives. And we can usually feel it a few days before and a few days after. Often times what we learn at eclipse time is like the rug being pulled out from underneath us. What comes up for us can be abrupt and charged with emotion, and is generally information we’ve suppressed for awhile (whether it’s conscious or unconscious). With the help of the energy behind this moon, it can act as the catalyst for the changes we have been wanting to make, and the fear that’s kept us from making those changes will somehow disappear. We all have different karmic lessons to learn and situations we are experiencing based on our soul’s contracts, so what is coming up for us to be released will vary for each of us. Regardless, see this time as an opportunity for a quick, final ending to a chapter, out with the old, ushering in positive new energy to create the new!

It’s a great time to reflect on what no longer serves you. You can quietly meditatejournal, and/or pray about it, surrendering it to God and your Guides, to free you from the old energy. Ask to be open to receiving what’s in your highest Truth and healing, allowing in the new energy that will help guide you into your spiritual expansion.
